Woke up this mornin’, heard a funny sound,
Little feet scratchin’ all across the ground.
Peeked out the window, what did I see?
A bunch of fluffy chickens starin’ back at me!
They’re peckin’ at bugs, they’re flappin’ their wings,
Struttin’ around like backyard kings!
Neighbor, you better corral all them chickens,
’Cause they’re all cluckin’ in my backyard!
They’re scratchin’ and peckin’ and causin’ a ruckus,
Actin’ like they own the whole dang yard!
One’s on the porch like she’s ringin’ the bell,
One’s in the garden sayin’, “This’ll do just well.”
Another one’s gossipin’, cluck-cluckin’ loud,
Talkin’ ’bout worms like she’s talkin’ to a crowd
They’re chasin’ a bug like it’s runnin’ a race,
Feathers and fluff flyin’ all over the place!
Neighbor, you better corral all them chickens,

Cluck-cluck here, cluck-cluck there,
Feathers floatin’ everywhere!
Strut to the left, hop to the right,
Backyard party day and night!
One little hen gave me a look so proud,
Like she just joined a chicken crowd.
Rooster strutted through like he’s in a show,
Crowin’ real loud like, “Everybody know!”
