This is a personal story about looking backward—and discovering that some of the things you believed about yourself for most of your life may not have been true at all.
In this first blog, I share what it was like to struggle terribly with traditional education while, at the very same time, becoming deeply absorbed in music, electronics, computers, writing and solving complex problems. It’s a journey that eventually led to more than four decades in technology and software development, and now, at 68, back to an extraordinarily creative period in music.
I don’t know whether ADHD explains all—or even part—of that journey. I’m still asking that question. But looking at my life through that possibility has caused me to reconsider what it means to learn differently, to spend years wondering what’s wrong with you, and eventually to ask a much better question:
What if nothing was wrong with the ability—only the way we were trying to reach it?
This is where that conversation begins.
