Everything Is Cherry started in the strangest, simplest way. One day I began noticing cherries everywhere. Cherries at the store. Cherry juice in my refrigerator. Cherry this, cherry that—it seemed like everywhere I turned, there was another damn cherry.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, the phrase “Everything is cherry” popped into my head.
From there, my imagination took off on its own little magic carpet ride. Sidewalks disappear, the sun forgets its bedtime, the moon comes out at noon, paper-winged dragons float by, and suddenly nothing has to make perfect sense anymore.
That’s really what this song is about. Sometimes it’s fun to quit trying to make sense of everything and just enjoy the ride.
Everything Is Cherry turned into a colorful, harmonious psychedelic sing-along that makes me smile every time I hear it. It’s strange, happy, catchy, a little ridiculous—and exactly what I wanted it to be.
So leave your little worries where the sidewalk disappears. Everything is cherry from here.
