At High Springs Brewery as the sun went down,
String lights were shinin’ out over the grounds.
The ladies were dancin’ off to the side,
A long-haired cowboy played drums in the sky.
A cool Florida breeze blew under the lights,
Cliff Dorsey grinned as he sang through the night.
The guitars kept rollin’, song after song,
And nobody cared how late it had gone.
Somewhere between every note and each word,
I got to thinkin’ ’bout what I heard.
That tune didn’t come without some pain,
It didn’t come without some joy.
Somebody lived what Dorsey sang
Before it ever found a voice.
Might’ve started with a screen door slam,
Or laughin’ across the room.
You never know which part of your life
Is gonna turn into a tune.
A man held his woman a little too tight,
Like she might be gone by the end of the night.
Some woman sang every word right along,
Like that song knew where she was comin’ from.
One couple danced like they’d done it for years,
One woman went quiet and wiped back a tear.
The music rolled on all over that ground,
With a hundred different stories dancin’ around.
Some come from leavin’, some come from stayin’,
Some come back years after the memory fades.
That tune didn’t come without some pain,
It didn’t come without some joy.
Somebody lived what Dorsey sang
Before it ever found a voice.
Might’ve started on a two-lane road,
With the radio turned down low.
You never know what’ll stick with you
When everything else lets go.
Some songs come from a hard goodbye,
Some from a joke on a Friday night.
One takes minutes, one takes years,
One comes easy, one comes through tears.
Sometimes you know where that first line began—
Most times you just don’t really know.
