Hope and Twine

Hadley Price

Hope and Twine started while I was listening to Jelly Roll’s music and thinking about some of the similarities in our lives. Different people, different roads, but...

but I understood the struggle behind a lot of what he was singing about—the bad choices, the consequences, the regret, and somehow finding a reason to keep moving forward.

That got me thinking about my own road and how many times life can leave a person feeling like they’re barely holding things together. Sometimes there isn’t a grand answer. Sometimes you just make it through another night, get up the next morning, and keep going with whatever you have left.

That’s where Hope and Twine came from.

The line “a soul held together by hope and twine” really became the heart of the song for me. Twine isn’t fancy. It’s not permanent, and it probably isn’t what you’d choose to hold something important together. But when it’s what you have, you use it. Hope can feel that way too. Sometimes it’s strong and certain. Other times it’s just one thin strand keeping you connected to tomorrow.

This song is for anyone who has ever been down far enough to wonder whether getting back up was worth the effort. As long as you’re still here, your story isn’t finished.
