Scars Don’t Scare Me was inspired by someone I’ve known through family and followed from a distance over the years. I’ve always been fascinated by her strength, humor, and especially the unusual perspective that comes from working as a mortician and helping families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
When I saw her write about “escaping the prison of comfort that made me weak” and say, “Some are born once, but I never die,” those words stopped me. I took a little artistic license and began writing around the person and spirit I felt behind them.
What emerged was **Scars Don’t Scare Me**, a hard-driving country-rock song about scars, resilience, getting knocked down, and making the choice to get right back up again.
