From there, my mind went straight to the Old West and a weathered gunslinger riding into a town where everybody already has an opinion about him. He’s lived hard, carries the scars to prove it, and knows exactly what he’s capable of.
I wanted this song to feel like a little Western movie set to music—dust, horses, old storefronts, a gunfighter with a reputation, and the feeling that trouble is waiting somewhere ahead. But underneath the gunslinger story is something much more universal: people will judge your past, your scars, your mistakes, and the road you took to get here. In the end, though, you are who you are.
